1.SCOPE

This part of this British Standard specifies a method of test for the determination of the ignitability characteristics of the exposed surfaces of essentially flat, rigid or semi-rigid building materials or composites, when tested in the vertical position.

 3.Definitions

For the purposes of this British Standard, the definitions given in BS 4422 apply, together with the following.

  • The material or composite about which information is required.
  • A basic single substance or uniformly dispersed mixture.
  • A combination of materials that are ganerlly recognized in building constru as discrete entities.
  • Exposed surface. That surface of the product subjected to the heaing conditions of the test.
