1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF APPLICATION

This part of the standard provides the minimum requirements, depending on the vehicle’s risk
level in accordance with the UNI CEI 11170-1 standard, that have to be met in order to:

– minimize the risk of fires breaking out in a vehicle;

– contain the fire, after the latter has broken out, for the time necessary to evacuate the
passengers and crew;

– provide the necessary means for extinguishing the fire and/or evacuating the vehicle
quickly and safely.

This standard refers, by means of special mention (which may bear a date), to various provisions included in other publications.
